Espace diesel problems - A Mech an Nick
Hello owners of the espace diesel 2.2dci. I gather that most of you who own one have come across the slight problem of loss of power? Am I right? Of course. Let me guess you have had the following done by your local or nearest renault dealer
1/ Egr valve 2/ Egr valve pipes 3/ Turbo 4/ injectors 5/ Fuel pump 6/ Reprogramming of software. 7/ Anything else that I have missed.

I want to help you people as I am sick of seeing these flipin espace's in the workshop for the same fault and getting my ears chewed by customers and bosses who moan because it's not fixed. Few things straight Software updates come out occasionaly so any info you hear about it will be mostly rubbish. We know what renault are doing so please be patient and don't have a go at us because if we were not here who would fix your cars!!! To all the loyal and patient customers of renault I appoligise and understand how you feel but we are working as hard as we can. Anyone who can give me good strong info on what your car is doing that I can use would be great. Also any rumours would be great. I will try to help as best I can.

hiya i am also a mechanic working for an indepent renault specialist. We are also sick of seeing the espace 2.2dci with engine faults that you cant cure no matter wot you replace or try i,ve come to the conclusion that renault owners are very patient on the whole and us mechanics will end up in looney bin tryin to fix the things. However there is one trick you can try take the egr valve out and rotate it 180 degrees only 1 bolt hole will line up put a bolt in conect it back up and try it you might be surprised it cured one of ours.....lol.There is a modified egr pipe avaliable just in case you didnt know that has also worked for us in the past if this doesn't help you can always try banging you're head against a brick wall....lol

Just thought I'd let you know that this problem appeared on my 2004 Scenic DCi 100 a few months back (loss of power under moderate throttle)- I had the following replaced:

1. Turbo
2. EGR valve
3. Throttle potentiometer
4. Software upgrade
5. Catalytic converter (?)

The EGR valve and cat were done at the same time, and fixed it for around a month or so, then it went wrong again. As it was a lease car, the lease company eventually replaced it (six months after this all started), and the new car is okay so far.

*frantically touches all wood within reach*

I too would *love* to know what it is that causes this problem and how it's fixed!
