Hi,
I have a 1999 Espace 2.0 bog standard model.
I have had the car a year now with no real problems however....

just recently last couple of months been getting a strong smell of petrol inside the cabin.

There is no rhyme or reason why and the situation appears different everytime.

Full up.. empty (Fuel)
Air on... and off...

Engine cold... and hot

I have had the filler cap changed.
I have the hoses examined with no staining
I have has the exhaust changed.. needed doing anyway.

can anyone help !!!!

Wouldn't a blocked breather give fuel starvation problems?

Sorry dont know the motor.But it has a sealed fuel system,ie fuel vapours collect in a carbon canister.the ecu decides when the vapours are released into the inlet manifold.usually during high engine revs so as not to effect general running of engine.could be the ecu controlled valve has failed.Just a possible and may be wrong?
