Bit hard to swallow, this one.
We've got our fair share of potholes in this area, but on one major road a sewer collapse or some other form of subsidence during the hours of darkness meant a young driver and his car ended up in the resulting large hole.
Fortunately he wasn't seriously hurt but police are looking into it....
This certainly would have done his car's suspension no good at all, but he was lucky in that the utility service concerned would have insurance to cover such eventualities.
