petrol in diesel engine aahhh!! - r3d_dwarf
short n sweet put unleaded in my citreon diesel xsara drove 3 miles just made it back engine still running just, what damage am i looking at knowing the fact that i have to drain the fuel tank any thing else i should replace?

As its an older diesel engine it shouldn't be too bad. I would add some Millers Diesel Power Plus to the next few tanks of fuel as it improves the lubricity of the fuel which will be compromised by having petrol in the system and will shorten the life of the fuel pump.

Its the newer diesels with high pressure injection systems than can run to a four-figure repair bill if you put a significant amount of petrol in.

yes its a 1999 model v reg standard engine (luckily for me ) although i was suprised it got as far as it did!.

You will have done no harm at all,the other way round is a disaster.A diesel engine will run quite normally on a 25% mix of petrol. You will have the cleanest injectors in town as all these expensive injector cleaners are only petrol.
