There may be some useful tips at www.oasiscarwash.co.uk. Seem to remember bicarbonate of soda - 1 teaspoonful per pint of water - sometimes works. Good luck

If you can take the carpets out so much the easier to clean them.

Some methods used over the years include pouring white distilled vinegar directly onto the affected area and, when it has evaporated, the soured milk smell and the vinegar smell should have gone; enzymes based products which digest the milk proteins, or mix a quarter of a teaspoon of a hand dish washing detergent which doesn't contain lanolin or bleach with one quart of water and work into the stain, using kitchen towel to blot it up.

Any remaining smell can be effectively banished afterwards by using Neutradol or the copy cat newer products such as Dettols's Neutra-Air - these work by killing the bacteria.

Milk is probably the worst thing you could have been left with to clean up...:-(

I've found the Persil website useful in the past. Their answer to milk is Borax.

See www.persil.co.uk/ask_persil/ss_home/index.php

You may have some difficulty getting the carpet in the washing machine though!

My dad was delivering eggs in his Vauxhall Victor estate, when he had to brake hard. Yes you know what happened, several broke on the rear carpet.

About a month later the smell was so bad, and nothing that we did made any difference, that he had to sell the car.

I felt sorry for the new owner, not only the smell but the dreadfull cornering and sloppy handling of this 1966 model.

The only thing about the car that I liked, was the fact that I took my wife out for the first time in this car. My car at the time, a Contina 1600E Mk2 was in dock.

We have been married for 31 years! it all started in a Vauxhall Victor estate.

No wonder I hate Vauxhall's! (this is a joke, incase she reads this)

Guess that was before you could blame the smell on the Catalyser...
