The tachometer on my 'N' reg Xantia diesel is only working interm itantly. This has been going on now for about a year. Does any one know where the take of point is? Or is there any imformation on this problem

If it's anything like my 205 diesel it's got an electronic tacho and the sensor on the back of the gearbox gets filthy with grime and stops working - you can either buy a new one or remove the old old, give it a scrub and refit.

Had a similar problem where the wire to the sensor plug fractured & gave an intermittent reading.
