Hi all.
Anyone know if fiesta 1ltr and 1.1ltr conrods are the same?

Bobby,
I presume this is all part and parcel of your 1/1.1 litre hybrid www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=33446&...f ?
The short answer is "yes", I believe the conrods themselves are identical. However, why would you want to swap them over? Has a conrod broken? I'm told by dear old Mr Haynes that you need special heating tool (blowtorch?) to remove the gudgeon pin to change the pistons around.
The pistons would need to be changed as they need to be kept the same for the 1.1 (CFi), as the 1.0 pistons (carb.) don't have the bowl in the centre that limits the compression ratio to 8.8 instead of 9.5. What actual effect this has on engine performance I don't know.

As the bore of the engines is the same the stroke must be different, determined by the crank,so the conrods will be shorter, otherwise the block would have to be taller to accomodate the extra length. You would need to transfer crank, conrods and pistons(with new rings) to your good block, after honing the bores.Seems like a lot of work for 100cc,why not use the 1lt engine?

Doh! Yes you're quite right sierraman, my apologise for that - I was comparing like-for-like engine size con. rods for CFi and carb. versions.

No hes possibly not right! On this minimal difference you could accommodate the difference using different Piston heights, so wouldn't necessarily have to have different length con-rods.
