...always ensure the vehicle is properly supported before working from underneath...
...and not by the trolley jack...
What's wrong with that? I don't see a trolley jack anywhere in sight ;)
I've seen buildings held up with 3x3s as opposed to acrowprops. Absolutely frightenting!

Off topic, but reminded me of times past..
Age 15 I had a Hillman Imp which I kept at my friends farm and used to drive across up and down the cart tracks. One day something sna[pped, causing the car to veer off into a wheatfield. "Oh don't worry about that, just the subframe" said my friends dad. Rolled it over with a forklift, stuck a six inch bolt through into the chassis and off we went. You could hear it creaking and see it flex as we drove up and down the tracks. Lasted about six months before it snapped.
Froma age 10 we were driving various wrecks up and down tracks and across fields , Mini Pickup, mini van, Anglia, Austin A55, Hillman Imp, Viva. When they ceased to function, the cars became centre piece Guy Fawkes bonfire, helped along with buckets of diesel. Happy days....

If so, appologies, was clearing out my inbox and came across it.

Martin,
No apology necessary. It was just an observation.

I think the last time it was up there was a certain amount of discussion as to how foolish the chap really was - on the grounds that a piece of 4x4 timber is probably no more likely to collapse than an axle stand - provided it is carefully located in the truck and on the ground.
|
I believe there was also some discussion as to whether he was welding the fuel tank.
|
What does he need the second piece of wood for? It will make it harder to get the thing back on its wheels!
|
Engine weight would put motor off balance by a fair bit.Once the two are in place should be perfectly ok..Mind you it looks like bloke is welding chassis ie not fuel tank as mentioned??
