Good to see the return of this programme to ITV tonight. Almost as funny as the comedy driving of some motorists is the way the prog tries to pass itself off as a serious lesson in road safety!
But did anyone else think Alastair Stewart was a bit out of order to gloat at the Pug 205 that skidded and crashed after the driver panicked at the sight of a speed trap? Funny how you never hear statistics of how many accidents are CAUSED by speed cameras, isn't it?

Damn and bu**er! Missed it.
Oh well, next week perhaps.

Forget Police Camera Action. Watch the worlds scareist police chases on Bravo or ITV (very late). Some of the incidents in the states are just unbelievable.
Alastair Stewart comes across as patronising on PCA.
|
I've seen that as well, but that sheriff bloke's over-excited commentary drives me mad..."This guy is totally crazy - he thinks his car is a pinball!!" etc etc.

Proves a point re. the Pug 205. If anything else had happened, he was obviously going at too fast a lick to do anything about it, hence the complete loss of control when spotting the camera car........
|
Or maybe not - would the driver have lost control if he hadn't have panicked at the speed trap? I had a scare driving in Cornwall; quiet dual carriageway, straight, I was doing 85 - not a death defying speed for the conditions. It was night time but there were lights. I slammed the brakes on when I saw the camera - behind a sign. Got away with it. What if anybody was on my tail? I shouldn't have been 'speeding,' blah blah blah blah blah. Please define 'speeding.' Fool. Too much emphasis is placed on what the ickle round sign says. I hate this country!

I love that 'Worlds Scariest' prog. I watch it mainly for the over-the-top commentary - 'the only place THIS guy's heading is the local courthouse!' - and 'looks like the end of the road for this hog-rustler!'
Priceless.

I bet you he is out within hours on bail and doing the exact same thing !

See the "silliest driver" thread, for exactly that!

PCA is a spoof of itself. It's not meant to be taken serously. Stewart has a drink driving conviction.
My fave moment was a bike in dry clear motorway doing 109, 'look at this irresponsible idoit says AS. They cut immediately to a Police car doing 125 in heavy rain with a crowded middle lane!
V funny show.

The over-the-top inane commentary drives me mad, too
|
yea far too pro-police
it never comments on the dog van driver driving well beyond his capabilities, blocking the traffic car behind
or the police drivers using hand held radios
or the many dangerous driving incidents where the police (had a copper sitting next to me on the sofa who agreed) were driving dangerously and out of order
or the poor "speed kills" rubbish in the lectures to drivers

David, if memory of PCA clip serves me correctly, Pug driver was hooning over a ridge, sees the camera car (for camera car, try reading small child, mum with pram etc), slams on the brakes, excess speed=looses it big style. 'Ickle round sign' in this case was probably a spot on indication of what speed was needed at this stretch of road. More 'fool' him.

I think that it is attitude that kills more than speed. It is the thinking that I am the best driver, nothing can surprise me, I am king of the road, that causes accidents. This then leads to people driving too fast, too close and putting themselves and otheres at grave risk. Lets all take a step back, stop accusing others, like we all do and do something about our own driving rather than try and change every one elses.
I am not the perfect driver, neither are you, and it is about time we looked at our own driving rather than having a go at other drivers, police, cameras etc.
