Behaving strangely: on using indicators, works fine, but (sometimes) when turning them off seems to click very fast for a while, and then stop. When it's making this noise it is NOT firng any of the indicators. Is it on its way out? I THINK its behind the hazard switch. (used to be on the passat) anyone know how to access it?

Sorry: should have said Audi A6 (2000 model year)!

I've had this on an A4, and it was caused by a piece of (presumably partly conductive) muck in the switch assembly.
I suppose the relays will be on one of the relay plates (under the drivers side dashboard or behind the fuse carrier).
Sorry I can't be more positive about the relay location.

The hazard switch IS the indicator/ hazard relay which is a common problem on most of the VAG group.

Thanks guys. Anyone got any ideas about how to remove the panel holding the hazard warning switch without breaking it?

Wow, I looked it up and it is indeed part of the hazard warning switch!
This can be prised out of the dash (carefully) with a screwdriver... (at yer own risk...).
