Can we have a points system as its a motoring site? 3 points for a breach of rules and and stuff, 12 points means an automatic ban. Bigger points for worse offences, automatic bans for serious offences.
A rogues gallery would be nice telling us who has what points and who is banned and for how long!

Do you *really* want a points system? Because if you do we can always employ the moderating equivalent of the Gatso: The Swearfilter.
Every time the swearfilter is triggered you get an email requesting that you confirm who was using your account at the time. Failure to provide this information and your account is suspended. If you provide the info you get 3-12 points. If you confirm that an unregistered person was using your account you get 6 points and the as-yet unregistered person is banned for 12 months.
12 points and instant ban for any post rude enough to trigger a complete deletion by the filter.
As a result of the introduction of this system the moderators will spend their time drinking tea and writing up reams of paperwork to support the points process. You'll never have one around when you need one.
Anyone else see how daft such a system would be?
It would never work as a method of penalising motorists, would it.

Forget all the points nonsense,easiest way to do it is in members profile. add a posts deleted column
ie
Imagos
member since .....2003
number of posts ..1256
number of threads..96
number of deleted posts ..89
etc.
requires no manual intervention by moderator.
