my mate has a F reg citroen AX and the petrol gauge is not working.
where can he begin to check where the fault lies?
i'm thinking along the lines of checking the wiring between the gauge and the tank, but could it be something as simple as a blown fuse?
Thanks

I doubt it would be a fuse as usually one fuse would cover several things such as fuel gauge, dash lights and radio.
|
the dash bulbs are not working either the radio is working though

The dash lights may be a red herring as they would come off the lighting circuit.Does the temp guage work?If not then the feed to the guages is suspect, otherwise it could be in the wiring from the sender, maybe the connection on top of the tank.Do not know the AX but some cars have an access panel under the rear seat squab.

just spoken to him and the gauge has started working all of a sudden, i'm guessing loose connection at one end.
Dunno about temp gauge but dash still not lighting up but thats not a real problem, if the bulbs need replacing then he can check the input to the gauge.
cheers
