Scratched Bumper - Forester - tack
Subaru Forester Xln
Some nasty person put quite a deep scratch about 12" long on my plastic front bumper. It's in Subaru Premium Silver Metalic. How easy (i.e. expensive) to repair? It's the only mark on my 1 year old 6000 miler. Boo Hoo!

Just under £100 by Chips Away or similar - consult your local yellow pages. Can be done ourside your house or place of work so long as access to a 13amp power socket is available for them. Takes 3 to 4 hours. Quality of repair is dependent on skill of your local operator. had a repair done to my rear bumper about 2 months ago. Apart from a very slight colour mis-match (Ford/VW pearlescent silver) which you cannot see once there is even a slight layer of dirt on the bumper, it is hard to tell it has been repaired.

Hi again IET.

Not sure how these people charge but if it takes 3-4 hours to do a repair like that is it worth waiting to acquire a few 'dings' before calling them out. I have a bit of a scrape on my rear bumper - caused entirely through being momentarily distracted by Mrs V - plus a small round dent in one door caused by some sort of airgun pellet.

Anyway, the bumper will require a little sanding and filling whereas the
bdent may be largely removeable without paint. I'd be grateful if anyone could explain the processes employed - there seem to be so many of these people around it could be a bit of a minefield.

Thanks as always.

Thanks for the info. Will give it a try.
Had given up hope that I'd get a reply.

Whoops, a poet and didn't know it!

Volvoman - they charge extra for each additional area that needs "reworking". I have a minor mark on the other side of the rear bumper from the side that was repaired which was on the car when I bought it; was quoted "about £60 more" for that to be attended to, but as it is so small I left it.
