Lets see Renault Megane/Modus rear, Citron 2CV sides, Renault 4 roof Citroen C4 front IT'S FRENCH!!

The car that started this thread looks like a Cylon from the rear.

And will the sat nav tell you that you're 5000m till Tokyo High Street (in Japanese of course.)
|
Quite probably!
I've no idea if it would accept the european DVD out of a UK car.
|
Well i think both of those cars are horrible . sorry if you like either of them, it's good that we all like different things...cheers...keo.

I saw that a few times on Wednesday when I went to the Vauxhall dealers up the road. Not bad, certainly has some flair to it.

I wonder how that car was brought into the country? Presumably it has not gone through ESVA (I don't think that there would be a Model Report on it). Anybody got any ideas?
I'm off to Japan later this year and I'd be interested to know how easy/difficult it is to get a late-model car into the UK.

I'd be interested too Aprilia, if i had the spare cash, i'd be making the garage an offer.
How would I go runiing this car - i guess that they will be Japanese import friendly insurers, as the more mainstream insurers will not have heard of it.
As for servicing, if it's a Corolla T Sport underneath, then will any Toyota dealer or indepedant be able to cope? I'm guessing that most of the oily bits are going to be in the same place. The obvious achilles heel is the "triptronic" (advert's wording) gearbox. Do any Toyota's have this in the UK?
And good point about the sat nav, Bath to Bristol via Kyoto maybe.

Yes there are quite a few import friendly insurance companies - often they are the same ones that deal in high performance cars.
Servicing shouldn't be too much of a problem even at main dealers, like you say the engine is as far as i'm away pretty much a standard T-sport engine, i wouldn't be suprised if it shared a lot of things like suspension and brake components with the corolla too.
None of the UK range use a tiptronic gearbox, the nearest thing is the MMT which can be used in a sort of tiptronic style, but i would think it would be pretty much similar.
As for parts most things can be source from a toyota dealer although some parts may take a while to arrive from Japan.
There are also specialist who can get parts, service them and als know the best insurance companies so it may be worth speaking to one of them for more advice. One place are highly regarded in the import world are a company called Newera, possibly worth a phone call.

Thanks for the useful advice BH and others.
I went to have a look around the car, the boot is tiny, it reminded of the boot in a Capri as the floor was so high. Very plasticky inside, but pretty funky. I love the colour.
I'm goping keep my eye out and save some cash.

It looks to me that Renault have stolen their rear end from Toyota, perhaps Toyota thought no one would be daft enough to buy a car that looks like that.
|
I've seen one in the UK not 5 minutes from where I live in Chatham in fact! I drove home a month or so ago several cars behind it and thought at the time, what the hell is that? This one was pearly white but identical rear.
Their are lots of Jap car importers in kent so I suspect it belongs and was brought in by them. Sheerness docks is where a lot of imported cars come into.
Sorry it looks gross and irrespective of performance I still wouldn't want it. But each to their own...
