Hi there,
I read often, but I do not get the chance to post often.
I am looking at company car options and from the options available we are interested in the current Passat estate. I will not be able to order until July or early August, so my question is is the estate being replaced at the same time as the saloon or will it continue unchanged?
Does anyone know? VW dealer not entirely surer themselves, but then why should that surprise me.

I too asked this & got a non answer, so my guess is the current estates will be around a while.
For info, I had the pd 130 highline for 24 hours which has everything in it & can be had for a very good price...but..it was just so bland to drive. Engine was fairly good (if harsh) but totally uncommunicative handling/steering feedback. Very well made though & depending on your company car scheme you should get a good deal and VW dealers are falling over themselves to get rid of them.
Fairly high CO2 rating for the PD130 version, so impacts on your company car tax liability..its over double what I'll be paying for the 2.0tdi Audi A3 which was also cheaper on a leasing deal.

Thanks for the info MM. I have a Bora at present which has been good apart from AC failure in its second year. We need more boot space, or at least a boot that is easier to load than the Bora where I often end up almost climbing in to reach bags atthe front of the boot.
Passat appeals to my better half and seems a 'natural' transition.

Servelan,
Have you looked at the new Skoda Octavia estate? It comes with the new 1.9tdi or the excellent 2.0tdi & is very well built. I didn't pursue one as the residuals meant a lease deal was not as attractive as the audi.
Good looking car though, plenty of kit in Ambiente or Elegance trim & HJ gave it a good review. Downside is their is a 8-12 week delivery time quoted.

MM,
Not an option I am afraid, Skoda's are not on our company list.

We've had one for 5 years, an unusual 'S' model, (a T reg), with c.c and a diesel automatic. Not one to burm of the lights, nor enjoy B roads. The beleoved loves it though, for its unpretentious, reliable comfort and security and psace. It's a srto of it does what it says on the tin - type of car, but it won't excite you walking out to drive it.
I'd look at a Subaru Legacy.
