My friend has an Alfa Spider 2.0 Lusso which is idling at around 2000/2500 rpm. Apparently the EMS has shown that it was a problem with a lamba(?) sensor, but when changed it wasn't this. Any suggestions on what else it could be, and what the costs might be for this!!

Try disconnecting the AFM. If the idle settles it will need replacing. If not, a soft reset of the ECU is likely to be needed. There's a thread on this on the Alfaowner website in the 147/156 technical forum.
