help to remove marks on bonnet - stevegolf
Om my 1 year old metallic black civic sport bonnet I have all white small marks like paint stains and can not remove them with Mer,Autoglym or superguard.
Has any one any suggestions as to how and what to try to remove these,without damaging the painwork totally.

I had a bad mark on the wing of my C5 (bird dropping that ate into the paintwork) I tried a bit of gentle persuasion with polish but it made no difference whatsoever. Then I used a little bit of Brasso and it came right out!

I've used Brasso before with good results - but be very careful until you see how it affects the paintwork. My C5 is black gloss, but you'd need to be extra careful on metallics.

Give it a good rub of wax polish to finish off and add protection after you're finished.

T-Cut, dont be bothered with the stuff they sell for metallics, just go easy with normal T-cut, should do the job.

Or get a clay bar. Mrs ND had paint spots on her previous car from some overenthusiastic paiting of the cottage and a clay removed them with no problems.

I used the Meguiars one with quick detailer to wet the paintwork but others swear by the 3M one as being better. Couldn't find a local stockist for 3M.

They will be small stone chips. The bonnet on my eternal blue 18 month old Civic is covered in small white specks. Its caused by very thin water based paint and white undercoat.

I find the turtle wax "chip stick" helps cover them but I now have so many I can't be bothered any more!

does this mean adam that the civic paint is a "poor job" as I had 3 black metallic astras all from new since 2000 and never ever this problem!

thanks went and bought a whole range of Meguiars products on Sunday--used the Deep Crystal paint cleaner followed by the Polish--and the ressults are good and will have wax treatment next week if weather good.
Thanks as I never heard of Meguiars = good stuff.

I don't think much of the paint on the Civic. As I said it seems thin and chips very easily, allthough the shape of the bonnet dosn't help.

The white specs on myne are chips so no polish will get them out!
