Ultimate for 98.9 per litre. Is this a record?

I don't understand why anyone would buy it at that price.
One thing I have noticed lately, is how little difference there is between the price of supermarket fuel and the prices being charged by local garages around here. Not long ago, there was a significant difference. Now it is only 1p or 2p per litre.

You'd be surprised. Speaking to a couple of colleagues of mine, they never bother looking at the billboard for the price beforehand and just pull into the garage and fill up. Wonder how many other people do this?

i expect anyone who has a paid-for petrol card, or is on expences needn't worry about the cost. No such luck for me. :-(

Exactly.

There's a Shell garage round the corner from my local Waitrose which matches the price of the Waitrose stuff (itself the cheapest in town.) Don't notice the diesel, but unleaded at 82.9 when I filled up on Saturday. Just as well with 20 gallons to take...

That's very cheap for unleaded. I think the prices around here are now much higher than that, although I normally only take real notice of diesel prices, which are now 89.9p to 90.9p per litre

This also explains the high cost of servicing in the UK - we still have a company car culture, unlike the rest of Europe, where the labour charge is a fraction of what we pay (And I don't mean 63/64ths!)
