Well, I've entered the Plymouth-Banjul challenge! 3700 miles and 3 weeks of driving a LHD car that's supposed to cost less than £100. Fortunately that rule isn't so strict and we've managed to pick up a H reg VW 1.8 Golf for £300. Anyone done this before or know someone that has ?

Wish you well and a successful finish.
You'll prove why a used VW is a good buy...:-)

Brave Man! However there will be many people in the BR that envy you, including me. As an optional extra, may I suggest that you take Aprilia with you. If he can't fix a problem no-one can I think.

Espada III - well if you have a family and need a Lamborghini, what else do you drive?

Good Luck.
One of my old school friends did the first one of these 3 or 4 years ago and won in a Hillman Hunter. Other entries were Citroen 2CV's and even a Fiat 126!
Let me know if you want to communicate with him directly and I will get his permission to give out his Email address.
He certainly had some stories to tell and many were quite hair-raising (having Passports conviscated and not returned without bribes, driving through villages whilst being pelted with rocks from the locals, being held up at fake customs houses, etc).
Would have scared the hell out of me but must be a once in a lifetime opportunity.
