The RAC have offered MG-Rover owners their 5 star cover at heavily discounted rates (I'll find the details and post later). With the tens of thousands of cars on the road, I think there is a lot of scaremongering over parts.

Absolutely. I can still buy newly manufactured parts for 30 year old cars. Why would a Rover be different ?
If there is a demand for a part, then tehre is a business opportunity in producing it. Perhaps not to the scale that there was when the vehicle was in production, but its still there.
Never mind the stored parts.

There are still shells for MGB's made. How many of those do they sell a year!

Just to clarify one point about MG Rover parts is that it is operated as a separate entity by Caterpillar Logistics at Desford, Leicester.
