Astra Diesel Glow Plugs - Clouddz
Hi,

I hope someone can help me as Im going to replace my Glow Plugs on my old Vauxhall Astra Diesel with the Isuzu engine and while looking around Ive been told conflicting info on who supplies Vauxhall with their OE glow Plugs, Either NGK or ADL Blueprint(from Japan). Does anyone have an idea?

Also these NGK plugs cost £35 each!! Does anyone know a cheaper supplier?

thanks
Kev

Sorry forgot to mention that the ADL plugs are £15 each.
Although I have never heard that make before perhaps if it is Vauxhall OE then it must be good?

Try the dealer, they are probably cheapest of all those, especially if you can get trade discount by asking nicely.

Also try
www.beru.com/english/produkte/produktfinder.php

to get the part number, then find al other makes and models that use it, you may need to put the part number in quotes in google to do that.

Why are you changing the glow-plugs? If it's a cold start issue, are you sure it's these, and not valve clearances?

hi there,

Dave I've already had the Clearances done at Vauxhall in Jan(they adjusted all 4!) but its still bad starting at 14deg. it wasnt like this last year. BTW I changed the plugs 16 months ago when I 1st got it (as my first car) with Halfords cheapos and now I think they must be screwed so Im givin it one more try before I sell her as I cant afford to sort out engine compression issues as that can only be the prob if the plugs dont sort it.

Rishab Thanks Ive checked it but searches on Google dont throw anything up, Im callin Vauxhall 2morrow but I aint holding my breath as the archives on here say they charge £40 each!

cheers

Golly! Glowplugs for my Vauxhall were £7.50 each + VAT. They were from the dealer.

Tell me about it! Ive been told there are two types of glowplugs for these engines, and the ones for mine are ment to be ceramic. anyhow I shall find out 2morrow.

clouddz,I had a problem not unlike this not too long ago and tried a lot of things but in the end it was the copper wiring which was "tired"it showed to be passing current with the meter on it but under full load conditions it just would not put enough power through, after replacing the wiring with the same grade the problem went away.the wiring and connections were brittle as if it had a lot of heat at some time and more visible with the insulation stripped off, sheer desparation as a last resort but it cured the problem.perhaps you could borrow a clamp on meter and measure the current to the glowplugs.
