Anyone know of a good handsfree kit that could be used in a convertible with the top down.
I hate any kind of earpieces (esp. Bluetooth) so wondered if there was an alternative out there?

Assuming you don?t want a fixed system Motorola do a blue tooth system with a speaker that clips to the sun visor, I don?t know how effective it would be with a lot of wind noise. Seen in Staples for approx £80, might be cheaper on the web.

Cheers, I'll have a look for it.

I think the main problem you will need to overcome is wind noise; both hearing the caller, and the caller hearing you.
Take a look around www.mobilefun.co.uk to see if they have anything suitable.

Pardon? Sorry can you speak up? NO - I'M IN THE CAR ... YES ... DOWN .... THE ROOF .... THE ROOF IS DOWN ..... DOWN .... PARDON?!
I've tried it. Have you considered voicemail?

It does sound daft doesn't it... just wondered if there was anything that was any good. If not, I'll just be sticking to my old cabled earpiece.

I have used the speakerphone funcitonality of my mobey in my spider and found it perfectly acceptable, admittedly I was only doing about 35/40MPH so wind noise wasn't a big issue.
Generally I use a bluetooth earhone thingie. I hate the fact that it has little blue lights that flash in time with blue lights on the phone tho'.

Yep, got one of these and it's ideal as I can use it in either car and I don't look like an extra from Star Trek. I reckon it would struggle in a convertible with the top down though - it just about copes with a noisy motorway surface at 70 in a saloon. Definitely available for less than the £80 if you look round for offers.

I use an ordinary Nokia car kit with two microphones, one either side of the steering wheel. No problems up to the legal speed limit in hearing the speaker or making myself heard. But I do use a wind deflector and have the windows up. I too hate blue tooth.

I use a plug in the giggie lighter Siemens one that plugs in the phone & has a seperate mic.
Gives brilliant performance in the ALfa and was useable in the 7 up to about 60 with the hood down, after that you can hear them but they can't hear you, which could be improved by moving the mic nearer your mouth.
In the 7 I was quite impressed because its V Noisy, something to do with a 4 barrel carb & very little in the way of silencing!
