Some friends need a change of vehicle. Thay have four children aged three to 12 and so want a minimum of a six seater, but preferrably an eight seater with room for luggage.
It looks like a job for a smaller Transit type vehicle. Anyone any better ideas. I would suspect maximum spend is about £6,000.

Espada III - well if you have a family and need a Lamborghini, what else do you drive?

Fiat Multipla, six seats, should get a good one for 6K.

Nope too small. Needs six seats minimum, would prefer eight plus lots of luggage space for tents, bikes and bags etc.

VW Caravelle or Toyota Previa are the only eight seater options. The Caravelle is a van (but books as a car for insurance, etc), the Previa more car like and probably better made, but diesel ones are very expensive and off the top of my head I'd say the Caravelle would be more spacious.
A Grand Espace or Grand Voyager have seven seats and luggage space, but neither is especially well made unfortunately.
£6k is unfortunately not a lot to spend on any of these cars, close to the entry level for the last two at about six years old, and seven or eight years old for the first two.

Yeah, we though about the Caravelle, which seems to be vaguely popular with larger families in our community. Any ideas where thay can be found at sensible prices?

Apologies for my absence - a combination of computer failure - nothing money could'nt sort - amazing how fast a new PC is - & having to work a paintbrush - even more amazing is how scruffy everywhere looks after you build an extension. (Motoring link, we've an EXCELLENT garage & elecric roller shutter door now!!
Anyway, if you like Caravelle - actually 5 showing in COMMERCIAL Auctionview presently. Blackbushe has Y plater 100k, on Thursday, should be worthy contender.
But if you come accross a Transit Tourneo, which has been on airport runs, that IS a smart vehicle. Only got 2 on 53 reg in Auctionview, though.
How about a trailer & a Multipla or Zafira? For the tents n stuff, not the kids!!

A new shape Torneo was may thought as well although it would be pushing it on their budget i think.

Place I work has two. Seems OK, but really spoiled by the rear (2nd row) sliding windows, which are DIRE. Very difficult to open, and once open pretty much impossible to close. Horrid.
