Can you get and if you can are they safe, seatbelt extensions.
Basically, I have bought a baby seat from a well known supplier. Very happy with it, but it is really difficult to fit it in the car (Mondeo) as the seatbelts are only just long enough to go around. Thought it was a Mondeo or baby seat problem so tried in a Saab 9-3 and also a different seat in both cars. Same result.
Is this normal? Can you get an extension?
Any help greatfully appreciated as this is a right faff!

I've got two different seats which I use in 4 different cars. If anything the seatbelts are too long.
What type of seat is it that you have ? And where through/above/below the seat does the seatbelt strap route ?

Is this an "infant carrier" or a seat which faces backwards? If so, it's a common problem. If it does actually fit, even though with difficulty, I'd just live with it until the child can face forwards--you'll get the knack of doing it anyway. Or you could put it in a front seat (airbags off!), which can be slid back to give you more belt. Front-facing seats are no problem, but the kid must be above a certain weight (9kg comes to mind) and very competent at sitting unaided.
From now on everything is a right faff. This is the least of your worries on that score.

Aah, I'd forgotten the rear facing bit. That does give us a problem with one of our seats but the other is one with a separate base.
The base is strapped up, pretty easily, and then the seat is clipped in and out also pretty easily.
If that is the part that's giving you the issue then I'd probably do s ChrisR suggests and just live with it until you go forward facing.

Thanks. I will just live with it.
You are right by the way 5 weeks and it is the least of my problems!
