Does anyone know how a group buy works??? If we had a few people do you think we could strike a deal with someone to save a bit of cash on road angels???
Not sure about how these kinda things happen if they do at all.

I think, SEATboy, that if you dont know about group buys, but are interested in a ROAD ANGEL, you'd be better off asking this question in the SEATcupra forums, where by coincidence, there is a group buy running for ROAD ANGEL
|
Do you have an address for the coupra forum so I can check it out..?
It's in the Leon entry in car by car breakdown. HJ.
|
Or why not just stick to the speed limit, or keep your eyes open for cameras?
Much cheaper.
|
Where is the fun in that...?
Keeping your eyes open is all fare and well, however at night when it's raining and you are in unknown surroundings it can be quite easy to miss a turning let alone a speed camera. Especially with the latest information about Gatsos being inaccurate and people having being fined for barely breaking the speed limit if at all....!
Road Angel is for me, I have enough to worry about without having to be constantly looking for inaccurate speed cameras.
My job is worth more than £399, if we get enough people for a group buy we may have this price reduced.
|
Righto mate, whatever. I think you over-estimate the risk of being unjustly caught. I've never heard of it happening.
Why not just stick to the limit, are you in that much of a rush? Especially if you are in unfamiliar surroundings, that's another reason to take it easy.

If you'd tried typing CUPRA and FORUM into google you'd have found it by now
|
Checked out the seat site, then made a couple of calls.
I have found a company which will sell Road Angels to us for £290
This price would include a postage service, courier I believe. Also payments would be able to be made individually.
The only condition is that they require 10 orders.

Yes,but if you buy a reasonable sat nav system, you can download the camera sites for free, set your sat nav to give you approach warnings, and get 2 items for the price of 1.
|
Forgot.
I've just bought the Navman iCN610,for £299,and it does just what I've said,as I've got the speed camera database downloaded into it,with custom distance settings, and it does everything the RA does, which is warn you when the cameras are approaching, and like the RA,it's dependent on people supplying camera site info.
|
Not quite.
Take a Origin B2. Its direction related and wont warn you of cameras that dont matter, it can be speed set and only warn you if over the limit, its databse is much more accurate and up to date as its checked by mobile B2 engineers, it deals with specs and tells you what section of the complete set you are on, warns you in and out the specs zone, and warns you of DS/2 speedmaster pick up points.
In summary I would bet my driving license on an origin B2, I wouldnt on a public domain POI database.
|
I have looked into the sat nav with speed trap database and from what I can see they are totally dependent on your area, they state they have 3560 camera locations where the Road Angel has over 6500 locations and the Origin B2 brag over 7000. So although you think you have 2 units in one you really only have 1 and a half units in one.
I personally would rather have a road angel and read a map, until there is somthing that will do the job correctly.
