"Adam - you need to get out more"
To late to tell him that now!! It's 11.45....or 10.45

I do RF. I'm on taxi duty tonight though so here I am.
Where would you be without me eh?

My car has a stupid digital clock, how I hate the things. The back light has gone and when I went to a Ford dealer for a bulb, they told me there were all different types so I would have to bring the old one in and they would then order me a new one. Disconect battery to remove clock, reset radio code wherever the hell I wrote it down, repeat procedure again after refitting bulb, which will no doubt take a fortnight to arrive and cost the same as a new engine.
Stroll on, why the hell do they have to complicate a simple device like a clock? As I always wear a watch I am not even going to bother.

I'm one of the lazy Citroen owners. As from tomorrow, the car clock will be correct for the first time since the autumn.
I thought my laziness was unique, but to my amazement, neighbours who have a Citroen admitted last week that they were in the same situation.
(The clock on our Ford Ka clock does get changed though. As Frazer says, it's pretty easy!)
|
I'll just jump in the Vectra in the morning and within 3 mins of being turned to a radio station, the RDS signal will automatically change mine for me.
However it's quite a different proceedure in the Citroen Van at work. The clock can only be changed if the key is in the ignition, and only if the engine isn't running, then you have to go through a sequence of button pressing to set it - grrrr.

not if you have radio on MW. 3mins!!! blimey it takes about 3 second in my Mondeo!

not if you have radio on MW.
Which is why I said it needs the RDS signal.

More often than not it takes less than 3 mins, but as it only happens twice a year, who's counting ;o)

Odd - I thought the backroom always ran on GMT, and in summer there were always questions as to why the clock was wrong.
Looks like its clock went forward though??

I presume the BR server changes its time automatically like most PCs and the forum software takes its time from the server RTC.

I used to like this in my '98 Vectra V6, set it'self to continental time an hour or so after hitting France.

Oddly enough, my video is the only thing in the house (aside from PC) that changes itself - and it hasn't this time!
Wonder why?

and it hasn't this time!>>
How does it do it or from what source?

I've always presumed it's teletext.

That did cross my mind originally, but it only makes sense if it's Teletext equipped to allow sub-titling to be shown on recordings....:-)

Maybe the time's sent seperately, hence you get a "time" button on the TV remote.

"That did cross my mind originally, but it only makes sense if it's Teletext equipped to allow sub-titling to be shown on recordings....:-)"
Nope. There is a world of difference between recording telext on tape and receiving the signal.
My video (and all those that change time automatically) receive and decode teletext to set the time.
A whole new bunch of electronics is required to record any telextext onto tape.

New? My '93 vintage Philips VCR does that, and uses teletext to select the programmes to record. Teletext can also be used to record subtitles, or to record the programme's title on the tape. It's a shame that modern models don't have a similar feature.
Trying desperately to get back on topic, does anyone know how to adjust the clock in a Xsara Picasso? A colleague has been struggling with his since he bought it a couple of years go.

Sorry, but can't let that one go by as fact. Ceefax (30 pages) and full Oracle transmissions only began in 1974 - at one time there used to be motoring pages, but these were eventually scrapped for some reason.

It was, in fact, in 1995 that PDC systems for VCRs evolved.

Confession time - and keeping this thread motor related.
I adjusted the clock on my Saxo today and the clock on the car stereo. Yes, I did both whilst travelling along at 70 mph on the M8.
Were you driving when you changed your clocks?

Pity Barclays couldn't get that one right. As I found to my distress being out of gas and trying to use my Connect card at the local Total station's ATM without result.
