Who would pay that amount for a car on ebay? The questions to the seller starts with "I am the current highest bidder" and then goes on to ask some basic questions like are all the keys there and do things work on it?

It does say in text that it is a main BMW dealer so should be safe.
Best bet would be to toddle on down to the dealer for viewing and negociating (with a AA RAC vehicle inspector to hand) and deny all knowledge of ebay.

I bet BMW won't be very happy that you think that - the dealers name is actually BerkshireBM and is nothing to do with BMW.
The eBay ad is really off-putting - I know you shouldn't judge, but the spelling and language used is appalling.

Car looks very nice though, but there must be something wrong with it for them wanting to sell such a car on ebay. Possibly a smoker's car? I'm always a bit suspicious of a seller who doesn't list the faults, there must be at least one somewhere! There's no mention of it being HPI clear, what the mechanics/body are like. For all we know it could sound like a bag of nails. Also, there must have been loads of questions asked about this car with regard to its condition, yet the only one he's answered refers to where their dealership is.

Did a quick check of completed lots within the past 30 days, surprise, surprise, there are not other lots at all. Definitely nothing about a stopped auction, uless ebay have removed all reference to it.
To check this yourself is easy. Click on his feedback number to bring up his feedback. Then highlight the sellers reference and then use the copy keyboard function (Ctrl c). Open advance search and click on sellers details. In the box paste the sellers reference (Ctrl v) and check the box for complted items. Hey presto only one lots shown!

Briefly followed a Vanquish on saturday night, the car was in royal blue, the driver and passenger where in cruise night mode i guess. My initial impression was the lack of a sense of occasion. Sure i knew what it was all about but i was driving in a fairly narrow street with plenty of saturday night revellers.
No-one gave it a second glance.
Now i want my supercars to be head turners.. to stop people in their tracks. (that's the supercar point isn't it?)
The Vanquish failed the test.. so i won't be bidding.
