Hi
my car sometimes cuts out at traffic lights or when just started if i dont give it enough revs. im not sure what the MAF does - but ive heard that this could be the problem.
can this be fitted DIY or is it a garage problem - if it actually is the MAF that has gone.
many thanks

Hi dba,
Some Audi engines have a valve that is controlled by the engine management that are designed to prevent stalling. In conjunction with the hall sender they detect the revs dropping and open the valve to let more air bypass the throttle body. This valve might be sticky, or the pipes leaking or blocked, for example. Which version engine is yours? Which 3 letter code?

Unlikely to be the Maf sensor (this measures the air entering engine depending on throttle position).Usual problem on these is throttle body which incorporates the throttle butterfly/flap & automatic idle controller.Suggest get it cleaned out thoroughly & have the idle adaption re-set.

just taken it to the audi garage and they have said it is the throttle body.
is this something that can be done myself - im not too bad with cars. thanks in advance.
