Got GT4 a week or so ago and completely hooked.

Loads of different cars and the tracks especially Le Mans and Nurburgring are superb and very authentic.

Recommended.

I agree, its a brilliant game, very realistic. Original Nurburgring is as you say awsome. (Try it on the Licence section driving a Merc 190 Evo, great fun!)

i was toying with getting one this weekend but the old trout says were of to chester zoo, tomoorow, and seeing as ther admission fee for two adults and two kids is nearly fifty notes, i wont be getting one for a while will i!!!!!!
Any Gran Turismo 4 fans here? - Adam {P}
Derek, you can get a new PS2 with GT4 for 120 quid I think from Dixons.

GET IT!

GT4 will keep the kids happy for months and I can almost guarantee that it won't rip your windscreen wipers off!

Makes £50 notes seem expensive for the time being entertained. Also if you haven't got a DVD player, it can double as that as well. Also (phew), the weather is supposed to be rubbish this weekend, so it is better to be at home anyway.

Enough arguments for you?

Come on - you can't argue with that Del!

Barrelling down the Le Mans straight is just superb.

Can't wait to tune up a few cars to see the max speed that can be achieved. Think I will avoid doing it with a Merc though in case it does not make it.

rather play on half life 2 and C&C command & Conquer, Zero Hour.
but dont mind an online blast round the course in a motor
is it need for speed that was online, not played it for a year or 2 i think?

Somehow RF, I can picture you as CJ doing drive bys. I can really see it!

It's 2 player as well - next time I'm in your neck of the woods, I'll show you how to play it properly!

If you've got GT3 or the GT4 prologue you can transfer the licence over and save a lot of hard work!

Substitute for test drives?! - Citroënian {P}
Yes, it's excellent. The physics are superb, fishtailing after getting a corner wrong, it's what I seem to do most on the 'Ring!

Love the Italian city circuit, narrow streets and a rear wheel drive powerful car (a bazzed up S2000 is my choice) make for superb driving.

Has anyone played with the Photo mode? When I first saw it I thought it was a waste of time until I realised I could save the images to a USB memory key - my desktop at work is now my Clio V6 hairing around the hairpin in front of the Paris Opera. Quality!

I wonder how close it is to driving the real cars though?

Well if the V6 Clio is exiting the corner backwards and the driver and his passenger have a terrified look on their face, it is realistic!

Happened to me at a Goodwood trackday.

Oh yes, its got to be the DB's of the car racing game genre - a must have PS2 game.

It's much better than GT3. All the cars in that just understeered like sheds and were generally terrible. I didn't realise how bad they were until I borrowed Colin Mcrae 04 which is awesome. The focus in that felt just like the focus I drove on a rally day, complete with dead steering :-)

I hopped in an integrale and did the ring as the first thing on GT4. Took the real rally car. I am sure it was some daft time under 9 minutes even though I fell off the track a few times! Not bad for a first go. It might of course have been 19 minutes .... I then tried the road version of the car which felt the same only slower and with more nose diving under braking. The skyline r32 was pretty accurate too. Felt dog slow compared to the rally car as it weighed another 300kg and had about 70 fewer horses. Tried a DB9 and fell off the track and went round in circles mainly....

For the most ridiculous car on the most inappropriate circuit then I suggest trying the TVR Tuscan in the swiss alps :-)

I sooo want one of those 360 degree driving force wheels....

Bought GT4 the other day (for my son, of course!!!). Done A and B national licences and tuned up a Ginetta G4 so it can win some credits. So there's still a long way to go.

Tried Nurburgring but haven't found Le Mans yet (I have ridden as a passenger round the real 24-heures circuit, but that's another story!).

Graphics amazing but one or two quibbles: Automatic cars don't sound like automatics, so Jensen Interceptor etc. aren't very authentic sounding.

Cheers, SS

SS - Le Mans, I understand turns up after a fixed number of days.

There's a couple of excellent guides already at gamefaqs.com

Unfortunately, I do not have a ps2, and have been waiting for Lamborghini racing to appear on Xbox but the company producing it went bust.

The screenshots of loads of Espadas racing around hooked me (and I imagine at least one other member of the back room...)
Any Gran Turismo 4 fans here? - derek
i got it and ps2 and 1 21 inch telly for the back room(not this back room my back room)

the graphics are a1, there are no trees popping up or anything as you go along
it is all built up as you turn the corners, just got an sti imprezza, you find yourself going to work spotting a car andd going home to have a drivew of one on gt4,
i will have to show the kids how to work it tonight, i bet i wont get a look in after that,

my fave is the lister storm on nurgburgring

simply breathtaking

Youngest lad got it at the weekend and it's very impressive.

Favourite so far is the Italian street circuit. Reminds us of places we visited on holiday a couple of years ago. We race each other in Renault 5 turbos or Peugeot 205 Turbo 16s.

Working through the licences. Keep getting stuck driving around Laguna Seca in a Citroen C3. Grrr !! Practice makes perfect.

Any Gran Turismo 4 fans here? - Garethj
Hint for Laguna Seca - the series of 90 degree corners after the start / finish straight are slightly different, find the ones that can be taken fast and keep the speed up through them.

When you go up the hill before the corkscrew, brake hard in a straight line just before the brow of the hill where it's a bit blind, you can then trundle through the first bend of the corkscrew on a trailing throttle (where the camber is against you) and then nail it as you get to the apex of the second bend.

The Le Mans track is called something else but it's fantastic, just a shame about the 2 chicanes along the Mulsanne straight though.

Just before a corner it tells you which gear you should be in, if you're going too fast the number flashes - you can see this out of the corner of your eye and it's like a nervous passenger hitting their imaginary brake pedal!
Any Gran Turismo 4 fans here? - livefortheday
Glad you got the PS2 Derek.

Try the old Lancer GSR Rally car. The brakes are brilliant and it can be used for quite a few comps and be tuned easily for mega horsepower.

Also, although it is boring the driving mission where you have to slipstream a Nissan Cube is a quick way of netting 7500 for tuning.

Am I the only person that it lies to?
I do find it most amusing when it's your first time ona track, you're coming up to a corner, the display says it's a 4th gear one and you sail straight on as it changes it's mind to 2nd when it's far too late for you to do anything about.
Ho ho ho.
I've started to largely ignore the readout, judge myself what the corner is likely to require.
Any Gran Turismo 4 fans here? - Garethj
Sometimes it sees 2 corners, a 4th gear one which leads to a 2nd gear one whereas it looks to us like one corner which tightens up and in practice you'd be better off braking and doing it all in second as you found out.
