Travelling from Leeds area via M62 West to Manchester Airport around 11AM weekday.
When I get to the M60 Manchester ring road, is it best to go clockwise or anti-clockwise?
Maps show the distance involved to be about the same.

Anti clockwise from junction 18 every time. I missed the exit coming from the airport a few months ago and came back around the north of Manchester (the 'old' way) and it took me ages -it seemes much further and traffic was very heavy. Last November we arrived back in Manchester at 4pm leaving at rush hour, the M56 was manic, but the new M60 was very quiet.

Anti-clockwise coming from Leeds is via North Manchester isn't it?
Could you clarify this? Travelling to the airport from Leeds/M62 is it best to go anti-clockwise/North Manchester past the Trafford centre, or go clockwise/South Manchester & Stockport?

follow signs for Stockport - leave M62 at junc 18 - there is a pile of roadworks after the trafford centre with a long strech of 40mph limit.
