Hi
I am a problem with my 306 and my friend seems to think it's the CV joint. When turning a corner I get a clunking sound what sounds like from the drivers side road wheel. Also I get the same clunking sound when going over a bump in the road.
Could anyone please confirm this or offer another suggestion as to what it could be?
Thanks.

I've just recently noticed the same problem from front passenger side wheel on my 306 ( w 2000 )- have you had it confirmed yet by any chance ?
Cheers.

A CV joint makes a very distinctive clicking / knocking sound when it's on the way out - once you've heard it and know what it is you will instantly recognise it. I can't see the CV joint making noises over bumps, which suggests either a failed CV joint and something else, or just something else - roll bar drop links are a favourite. Difficult to diagnose without hearing it, so you'll need to take it to someone who knows what a failed CV joint sounds like (any decent mechanic will pick it up as you drive into his yard - it's that distinctive!)

I had the sae problem with my Pug 306 that I owned some years ago. At the time the local Peugeot agent was very good and when I explained the problem the situation was resolved in approx 45 mins. It is a common 306 problem and it is a chassis support leg the bill was approx £30.00 from what I can recall this was about 6 7 yrs ago.
Any good Peugeot dealer woth his salt will easily recognise the fault hope this helps
