One for DVD and PU.
I saw a car today with number plates having a bunny head and the script, 'Playboy' on the left hand edge, where you would usually find the 12 stars or St.George's flag. Is it legal?
Maybe not legal but much more interesting than the crushing tedium of the EU.
What about the ones where the background plate (white or yellow bit) is trimmed to outline the characters on the plate?. First thought would be no, but I recently saw them on a company liveried delivery truck and not on the usual max-powered hatchback so thought that maybe it could be acceptable. The assumption being that a company owned commercial vehicle would be less likely to break vehicle regs than the usual boy-racer.

If they don't carry a kitmeark or EN number then no. I doubt whether playboy symbol is on a list of prescribed imgages. Shame really.

No all that is allowed is the standard letter types and an EU stars or country flag. I looked at this as i wanted citroen badge next to mine which again is not alllowed.

Presumably, if a number plate is extended a few cm beyond its regulation size and a symbol of Homer Simpson or whatever is displayed, confined within that excess area, that must be within the law.

There's a car round Leeds way with a personal plate which has the registration ST3LLA.
Except the 3 is actually an E put on backwards. How pathetic can you get?
Club Leader - correct
Sofa Spud - illegal.

What we found really annoying was that plates with various symbols at the side and alternative fonts were able to be ordered at the recent Autosport show in Birmingham with no mention on legality. What do people buy them for if not to put on their cars?
you are supposed to use them for off road use only, if you have only changed the symbol at the side you will most likely not be pulled over for it by the local plod, however.... if you have silly unreadable letters/numbers of the boy racer variety you most certainly will, as my brother found out within 5 mins of fitting them - result...£30 fine. it all depends on wether said plod can be bothered or not.

Around here, many Private Hire drivers have PK (Pakistan) on a green flag.

Is it on a Toyota Landcruiser by any chance? I've seen the plate before.

I saw an N reg. Granada the other night with a pink front number plate. Is that legal? (His taste should be - it was a blue car!)
>>I saw an N reg. Granada the other night with a pink front number plate. Is that legal?
no it isnt legal- the pink is just the colour of the protective film which should be peeled off when fitted... some people dont realise this, but your driver might prefer pink!!
Perhaps he's been sold the pink cover as an anti-speed camera feature? Some bloke on ebay making a fortune...
Seen today - is this the most ingenious one yet?
Behind me was a really good looking silver Jaguar with the registration mark 'X TYPE'. I was most puzzled. The E was a wrong way around 3, and the P was circular at the top. This was most puzzling, so I waited until he passed me to look at the rear plate, which was a normal ?cherished? number, two normal numbers, three letters. Then I realised that I had been looking at the front in my rear view mirror, which reversed the script to look as the above. The P was fabricated, and the script was respaced. Any bright spark give us the correct registration, or is that forbidden?

Hopefully the cops will get the registration right on the ticket.

When the '55' registrations come along there'll be BO55 MAN!!
Just right for a BMW 7 series?
