Dear all,
my Nan's L plate fiesta classic 1.3 has started cutting out at idle. At present it only happens after a prolonged idle (sitting at traffic lights) or when coasting to a stop. The car starts straight away afterwards. Dealer thinks it needs a new injector at serious cash. Any other ideas? To me it sounds like a sticky idle control valve, but I don't know if a 1.3 CFi has one of these.
Thanks
Joe
(car has done 50k, mainly town miles, no recent long trips, recently serviced at same dealer)

Try all the obvious and cheap things first
Plugs
Clean HT leads
injector cleaner
Clean all hoses at top of engine leading to inlet manifold as they get blocked in winter due to condensation...

This same thing happened to me. New HT leads on and it never happened again.

Thanks all. Anybody recommend a good injector cleaner?

Winns is readily available almost anywhere. Forte is another good one, but only available though dealers - Vauxhall dealers generally stock it and sell to the public, and I believe ATS used to, but not sure if still do.
