Rail disaster averted - machika
The lorry crash in the forum has reminded me of another incident in the news recently. A driver lost control of his car on a bend, went off the road and ended up on a railway line. He managed to avert a disaster by making a phone call in time, on his mobile phone. I wonder what the law's attitude would have been towards him, if he hadn't been able to make that phone call in time?

In the news report, they almost treated him like some kind of hero, not questioning why he went off the road in the first place.

He was probably busy talking on his handheld mobile when he went off the road.....I still see them every day with the mobile clutched to their ear driving with one hand or none if they have their coffee or razor in the other.

I was driving in Gerrards Cross today when i let in a lady in her mercedes, she didnt pull away that quick because she was talking on her phone believe it or not! But if i just carried on? i might as well shout abuse at her if i went by perhaps!?

As the BMW driver said to the JCB driver.

Until PU enlightens us, let's have a guess.

Similarities betwen BMW and JCB:

- Both are TLAs (three letter acronyms)

- Bangle-designed BMWs are as ugly as JCBs

- Both are sometimes (in fairness, by no means always) driven by people who think they own the road

- Newest BMWs join JCBs in not having a spare wheel

- Both companies have been family-owned for a long time: BMW (Quandt) still, JCB (Bamford) not sure if they are.

No doubt others have more interesting suggestions....

PU is wrong. JCB's are much more expensive than BMW's.

I get stuck behind both of them.
