If you don't need four seats (except for the occasional circumstance) you won't be disappointed. IIRC What Car said years ago the Prelude is an 'incredibly under-rated car'.
People say the 5th generation is bland and Americanised but they are probably the ones who have never even sat in one. We have been running our 2.2 vtech sequential shift one as a hack for the past five years and taken its mileage from 40 to 100k. I can't speak too highly of it. It's the first car I have ever owned, I think, that has never, ever, bored me. It has been all over Europe, up and down mountains, thrashed on motorways (well, autobahns anyway), as well as pottered around and it has never done less than 34mpg.
It still goes like the shine off a shovel and handles brilliantly (4WS on the 2.2).
We are now in a desperate quandary because we'll have to have four seats and something a bit higher next time - but everything else seems very boring.
Just be prepared to look around for a really nice one with proper history and pay a bit over the odds. The paint quality is not what it was but rust doesn't seem to be a problem. One from a more 'mature' owner would be a good idea...
Good luck.
ps: don't have anything to do with a forum called 'the UK Honda Prelude Club'. It used to be ok but now seems to have nothing but intriguing email offers from ladies of dubious repute.
