Bio Diesel?? - 3T
Has anyone used this in their car/van for any length of time?
Quite like the idea but the sceptic in me says too good to be true. Apart from doing the HM Customs bit, and possible gumming valves, any other drawbacks?

Car Mechanics did a feature on this a while back, it may worth a look at their website.

If you use the "Forum search" link to the right of this page and enter "Biodiesel" as well as my name in the author box, it'll bring up quite a lot of comment on this site about the subject. I'm not the only one on this site that's used it or has expressed an interest in it, but I've probably been involved in most of the discussions ...
I've been using biodiesel for about three and a half years and over 100000 miles without any ill effects in four different cars. The car that's done the most mileage is a Seat Leon, which has now covered over 50k miles on biodiesel since I bought it brand new. The next one is a Passat, which has done about 30k miles on biodiesel from when I acquired it at 93k. The ones I no longer own were an old BMW 525 TD which ran on biodiesel from about 92k to (I think) 112k, and a Renault Clio dci which ran from new till about 12k. None of these cars ever had any difficulty using pure biodiesel, summer or winter, and (contrary to my original expectations) I've never experienced a loss of power or reduced fuel economy - in fact, I seem to remember the Clio was no different in that respect, whilst the other three have all been either quicker, more economical, or both, when using biodiesel in comparison to derv.
