Vectra Dashboard Display - hedley
Having had some success with my radio problem, I wondered whether anybody has the answer to a dashboard display that doesn't want to display! Part of the screen is not functioning, mainly the lower half, so I lose the time etc. Is there an alternative to replacement?

It may be a bulb gone - I am not sure how many there are on the display although I would guess only one!

One thing you could try is jiggling the connector to the display. Take the radio and the sleeve from the dash and you should be able to get your hand up to the connector at the back. Not sure that this will cure the problem but it is easy to try.

The alternative is to remove the display and either replace with a new one or you could try re-soldering the joints on the cable. The Vectra-Sport website has suitable links to tell you how to do both of these.

There are many versions, but some have 4 bulbs, some 2, if one quarter or upper/lower is not backlit amber, it is probably just a bulb out. Faulty pixels usually give a more pattinated effect.

Well, I have learned something new about the number of bulbs!

As Schnitzel suggests it may quite well be a bulb gone - even this may need the display removing but it would be worth trying to get to the display via the radio aperture.

The following from Vectra Sport tells you how to get at the display and repair it.
