Multiblade Wipers - frostbite
I see these things are being advertised on TV again.

Mixed feelings about them, but don't pay the fiver, alright £4.99, they're being advertised at.

Plentiful supplies in your local market/cheapo shop at £1 a time.

Even at a pound they are a waste of money.

In any case you can almost certainly buy top brand replacement blades, cut them to size and fit them yourself for less than £4.99.

Not much use to me though, my Bora uses two completely different types of wiper blades and holders...:-((

Badly made + badly fitted multiblades = multi squeeks + multi juddering + multi smears.

Reminds me of the darkest days of the 1980s when I owned a (then new) SEAT Ibiza. A fine looking car with a strong engine but in all other respects complete junk.

Anyway, it was around the that that it was fashionable to have single front wipers. Even with a new blade the single wiper of my Ibiza only ever seemed to work about half as effectively as a conventional pair. Mindful of this, SEAT dealers were selling a replacement wiper arm that took two blades fixed in parallel, about 1 cm apart. I bought one but it made absolutely no difference IIRC.

The point I'm getting to is that I wouldn't waste my fiver on any wiper gimmicks. Save up and buy a regular set of new ones instead.

The new Bosch wiper blades on my Passat have only lasted a few months before going smeary. This is with a new windscreen too - I cracked the old one fitting the darn blades in the first place* but that's another story! So there's not much to lose by trying these triple blades at £4.99 even if they're no good!

*spring-loaded wiper arm, wet, minus blade, slipped out of my grasp and snapped back against screen.

cheers, SS

My local motor factor stopped carrying bosch wipers after many complaints of lack of longevity. He now sells Veleo wipers instead, which I for one have found to be very good. They also have a colour changing dot which tells you when they need changing again.

I am not sure of what you guys are writing about, but will add my tuppence worth anyway:

Here in the land of sun and thunderstorms they have a delightful product:
The precision wiper blade refills, moulded from premium quality silicone ... blah blah blah ... guaranteed for the lifetime of your vehicle.

These are brought to you by the same people who sell an amazing substance which breaks the laws of physics - a lube which you put in your engine, and then you can safely drain ALL the oil and water, and drive 100 miles through snake valley and the engine still runs! (Yes - they have Mario Andretti doing so in a Dodge Viper!)
BUT I digress.
Many people have bought the wonder blades - only to find a few months later that they are TOO good, and the extra strain on dragging them across the windscreen has stuffed the wiper motor!
So off they go to the stealership, for a new wiper motor, which comes marked "NOT GUARANTEED IF USED WITH (wonder brand) WIPERS."

Caveat emptor!

This is a common mishap and easily done if you are unaware of the consequences.

Putting on some new wiper blades acquired at my local Halfords recently when one of the mechanics suddenly rushed over and advised me to hold onto the wiper arm for the reason you give.

I pointed out that I had already placed a piece of cardboard on the screen just in case this happened and got a "Well done mate" in return.
