Our wee Punto has gradually become a little hesitant with numerous flat spots. The garage says its fine but its only a shadow of its former self in terms of go and as i have to travel 200 miles in it next weekend I'd like to know what could be wrong. Any Fiat experts out there?? Cheers

TAKE THE AIR FILTER OFF,,,and spray carb cleaner down the hole,,,,i know it isnt a carb,,it is fuel injection,,but it will really clean it out,,,my wife had a 1.2 punto,,and i do that to hers once every 6mnths,,,and it helps a lot
the air filter will just unclip,,,

Thanks will try that tonight. I did give the car an 'Italian tune' today and its a lot better. As I remind my wife Italian cars - even Puntos are made to be driven ...

If it runs on supermarket fuel all the time then a few fills of shell/BP/Total could also give an improvement. A dose of injector cleaner would also give it a good clean. There is no harm in checking the HT leads are all secure. If they're original then they are probably about due for a change and getting new ones should make a difference.
I'd also check the coolant level and make sure that it isn't losing any just in case the poor running is a first sign of gasket failure.
