My 2004 Nissan Terrano 2.7TD does not start instantly as most diesels do although it only turns over for an extra second or so this does not seem right.Somebody suggested that this was possibly to get the oil pressure up.Can anybody help please ?.

Normal - we had 8 Terrano 2.7TD vans at my previous place of work, one being my company vehicle.
It does it because the 2.7TD is an antiquated old indirect injection diesel engine and actually requires the glow plugs in order to start if its been stood for any length of time. If you wait for the glow plug light to go out then they do tend to start better.

What brand of diesel do you use? you could try some BP ulimate!
