Rover sales down 47% on last December.
But MINI plus 60% probably due to new Convertible models. Saab did well too.
Do Rover sell any cars now?
|
Well, 47 is not easily divisible so they must have sold at least 100 last December, hence at least 53 this December.....

You beat me to it!...Swine!!!

I wonder what Rover's annual sales are now? I suspect a long way from their target.
|
rovers off loading cars at virgincars.com
still too expensive though
|
isnt virgin car sales just dc cook (worst dealer around in my opinion)?
yes, rovers are to expensive.
now 7,499 grand for a luxury 25, with leather, mahogany, lots of spec, good 1.4 engine - that asounds fair enough.
but the old stuff their trying to remove in the mean time is not worth no more than 6 grand.
i would buy a brand new 25 for 6 grand (5 door mined!).

Was somewhat suprised to see a newish 75 in rural Tunisia last week.
Suspect it won't manage the 410km that our dessert guide's Nissan 4WD had managed...

You need a guide with a pickup?! That's one big pudding! Where do they serve THAT?

It may well give it a good run for its money. My 75 has now got 205,000 miles (328,000km) under its wheels...

Must have been some restaurant you were in to have a dessert guide .Did they have soup captain as well?

What with explosive????
That seems unfair, even thought it's a Rover. LOL

Should be bourne in mind that MG sales were only down about 3%.
UK total for this year is about 77,000 units, and I think total sales are in the Region of 120K. somewhat less than the 200k target.
|
MGR's new marketing chief recently quoted as saying "the [Rover] is still seen as a 'pedigree brand', especially outside the UK....customers still see Rover at the bottom of the 'premium band leg below Jaguar, Bentley and Aston Martin - but definitely not part of the mass market.'"
So I live outside the UK, and I've a choice of a XK-type, a Continental GT, a DB9....or a CityRover. Let me think.....!
|
Mikey taken aside..chinese do have the advantage. Also bear in mind.where rover dont have the cash..for whatever reasons.Joint venture is the way to go..I would await chinese response before running it down..where Xtype/contintental.is concerned..get real city rover cannot compare

The figures for one month may be a blip. The figures for the whole year are more meaningful. Both Rover (down 23.92%) & MG (down 13.52%) had bad years.
But so did
Alfa Romea (down 21.68%)
Jeep (down 15.07%)
Mercedes (down 12.46)
Nissan (down 14.72%)
|
Other manufacturers may have had bad years in 2004. But not many have had a big dip each succesive year for ages.
|
According to Autoexpress issue 838:
Leather and wood trim will become standard on the 25 and 45 in February.
CityRover: gets more kit, possible price reduction of up to £1000. No mention of a diesel yet though...
Perhaps MGR could speak nicely to PSA and see if they can have the 1.4 HDi engine. Afterall, the current 1.4 petrol is a Peugeot unit.

I know this isn't one of those 'how to sell Rover' threads, but does anyone else think they should do Citroen-like deals on their cars? I mean they were what made the Xsara a best-seller when it was comprehensively outclassed, really, and if you can shift a lot of cars even at negligable margins surely its better than completely losing market presence? With the Xsara replaced, and the C4 not having the same huge mark-downs, surely there's now a gap in the market for a relatively mainstream car manufacter to occupy?
