have a good look at a micra, renault own nissan, isnt it supposed to be using the same platform for both

no doubt cosmetically they will be different

no surely not!
New Renault Clio - DavidHM
Not remotely, that's a fairly obvious Photoshop carried out on the existing car...

Look at the stance, the shape of the doors, etc.

If you go to www.autoexpress.co.uk and look under special feaures
then under Picture Gallery, search under Renault Clio and I'm sure there are spy shots there.

Blimey imagos, not satisfied with the "Quickest to the Ton" and the "Most Interesting Thread" titles you've gone for the "Longest Web Address" as well.
New Renault Clio - Imagos
What's it like to be perfect as SWMBO keeps saying, that's my problem! I think that was a too quick search. There is a pic. in the car by car breakdown which is possibly more accurate.

Have a look at www.tinyurl.com
New Renault Clio - Mrs PU {P}
imagos,

PU is far from perfect.

I like Mrs PU - she says more in 5 words than most of us say in 100!!

Imagos im impressed with the pic, but do u reks thats what it looks actually looks like? Autoexpress have got what i think are concept cars on pics, seen a liitle pic on HJ's cbcb but it looks different to imagos' pic.... Anyone know when its out? Im thinkin about buyin a 1.5 dci 100 clio but might hold out for the new one, and if i dont like it then go for the older one at it will be much cheaper....
New Renault Clio - Big Cat
What about a Modus? Not availble (yet) with the dci 100 but it has an amazing amount of interior space and it's a current model.

Well I was at first but not so sure now. Look at side view, windows, door mouldings and the profile. Too much like the current model. Don't know what this is but as DavidHM states it's either a photoshop edit or a Renault engineer styling excercise.

Bigcat also says what about the Modus? I have to agree. Renault may have an overlap here into Clio territory. You maybe better off with the cheaper model.

Its abit of a family car to me, im only 20 n want somethin with abit of style, with abit of pace, but has to be diesel.

New Fiesta Zetec S TDCi

Diesel Magazine were impressed with the Clio DCi 100. However I would be a bit cautious of buying a model that is due to be replaced shortly - unless you get a good discount. Afterall if you're after 'style', would you be happy with an obsolete model in 12 months time, or whenever the new Clio arrives?

Another to add to Cheddar's list is possibly the Ibiza 130 TDi?
New Renault Clio - Sunny22
My sister has just bought 1.9 tdi sport polo n i have to say i'm very impressed and would go for the ibiza but i dont like the styling of it at every angle. Yaris is a big no, drive a fiesta now n want something completely different. The current clio will still look good even when the new one comes out. Hmmmm decision decisions....
New Renault Clio - Adam {P}
Sounds like you really want the Clio. Hate to say it but it looks the nicest. My mate has a 172 and I like it but I'm not Renault's biggest fan.

My other half bought a new Clio Dynamique 80 DCI about 18 months ago. I also drive it quite a bit and its done 30,000 without a single mechanical fault. The engine is really good - smooth, quiet and it picks up very well. Its never returned less than 50 and usually does around 55 mpg (mostly motorway miles, but a bit of crawling in traffic and a few short runs).

The only niggle is that the sunroof rattles. Apparently this is a common fault. After a bit of reading up, we temporarily fixed it with a small wad of cotton wool in the mechanism and will try to get it sorted out next service. As the car has air con, the sunroof isn't really necessary and it only tilts anyway. If I was buying again and had the choice, I'd probably get one without the sunroof or pay for extra for the tilt/slide electric one.

Other than that the car has been really good. Fairly good spec for the price (cd, abs, alloys, aircon, remote locking, electric windows, fuel comp, auto wipers etc) and it has cheap insurance. When we bought it, we got it through Lex on PCP and, with three years road tax and metallic paint, I think it was about £9,000, which was not far off £2000 under list price.

I would have thought you could get at least the same sort of discount now, as a new Clio is imminent. All in all I'd say its a good car. Not much room in the back, but we use the back seats rarely, so its not a problem for us. If you get a Clio DCI at the right price, I's think you could do a lot worse!

Brian

Cheers for that Brian. I think the discounts that will be available are a big factor, and i think they should be even bigger once the new comes out. But still no news on when in 2005, anybody know? If i like the new one enough then i might just stretch the budget.

My daughter has one which sounds identical to Brian's but without the rattle. She got it at Easter but since I have not ridden in it much and only driven it a few (urban) miles I didn't feel qualified to offer advice. However, she is thrilled to bits with it, has already done over 10k in it and it certainly seems a good mover to me. In my latest ride in it, we were pootling along a (v. quiet) dual carriageway at about 70 Ithought when she said "It doesn't feel like 90 does it". After checking the speedo I had a few fatherly words of advice about speed limits to her!
What might interest you was that she bought it pre-registered as a 53? reg (should have been 04? anyway it was a bit behaind in the reg stakes) for £8000 from Renault Leicester which seemed a good price to me.
New Renault Clio - PhilW
P.S. It only had 12 miles on the clock when we picked it up, and was black - does that qualify as metallic? I know who cleans it (frequently)!

Indeed. According to Autoexpress Issue 838, it's due to appear at the Frankfurt motor show inSeptember. UK sales expected in November. The rear is rounded in line with other Renaults. Front very streamlined with the bonnet shut line well back from the bumper. NCAP 5 expected. Bigger in and out compared to current Clio. Greater internal space. Interior shows strong family resemblance.

Sunny22 - do you need 100bhp? It's quite a lot in a small car. A cheaper alternative might be to buy the 80bhp Clio and get it chipped. Remember to tell your insurance...
New Renault Clio - Sunny22
Thats a possibility, depends how much the chip is. Also i seem to think that when i do tell my insurance company that i have a chip that will add on alot on the premium, but where as i get the 100bhp one then it just seems better. After driving my sisters polo tdi 100 i think its just right for me. Its pacy and effortless and i think i deserve abit of something after driving a 1994 fiesta 1.8 diesel for three years.... I'm goin to check out the autoexpress website again, cheers big cat.

So Mrs PU is NOT a solicitor then;)

If she was she would have charged you £50 for those 5 words!!

Looks like Diesel Car Magazine rate the Clio DCI 100 highly - it gave it its "Best Supermini" Award 2004. Also, the DCI 80 won in in 2003 and the DCI 65 in 2002. This is a link to an article about it:

Must be pretty good then to win it 3 years in a row. Checked out insurance and its actually chepaer than my 1994 fiesta!
