S Type misfire after car wash - Simbad
about 6 months ago i left my 1999 3.0 S Type Jag at an outdoor car park for 2 weeks whilst on hols. on return the car had a nasty misfire and spluttered for the next few days but it slowly got better. however it never totally dissapeared.
then this week i put it through a car wash and the misfire was back to full splutter again. 2 days no and it is still spluttering !! any ideas. i am guessing this is water or damp somewhere but anyone any experience with this type of car and this problem??

Cheers
Simeon

misfires on these Jags are usually a problem with one or more of the sparkplugs &/or the coils.(there are 6 coils, one for each cylinder). The passenger side is easy to access under plastic lift-off cover, but the drivers side coils require removal of inlet manifold, not a 5 min job!!Suitable plug in diagnostics to the OBD socket should identify the problem cylinder/s.
