Had my golf 4 months now and its time for some motion lotion?
Just wondering if anybody fills with Shell Diesel Extra.
It costs more than city diesel but would it be better for the car.Bp ultimate is about 20 mile away so its a non starter.
Any advice would be welcome!!!

My Peugeot 106 XLD seems to run better on Shell Extra Diesel then it does on the cheaper nasty stuff. As I don't have to keep dropping down 2 gears to get up the steep hills as before, also it sailed through the exhaust test of MOT like a dream, unlike before.

Hi, I reckon Shell and Texaco are as good or better that BP Ultimate, all three far better than supermarket fuel etc.

tesco and safeways and sainsburys all fill up from the major oil companies depots, which they all buy from.

Blimey, that's good economy. ;)

Cheddar is right: the difference lies in the additives. On the Shell forecourt, of its petrol choices only Optimax is guaranteed to come from Shell's own refineries.

The city diesel at sainsburys and tesco comes from greenergy UK. They have a website and detail the specifications of each batch. Cetane rating is 51 , and HJ advises that it has sufficient lubricity.
Not to say that this makes it a better or worse.
