My local paper is carrying a story that NQ are going to experiment by spraying the interior of their cars with a perfume intended to give off a new car smell of leather, air freshener and new plastic in an attempt to attract buyers.
Since there are many people, myself included, who are adversley affected by many of these modern forms of designer air pollution, my message to them is don't do it!
In a worst case scenario, someone might have an accident due to being befuddled by fumes and end up suing for damages.
The report states they are testing this at one dealership - hope it stops there.

I had a 'New Car Smell' air freshener bought for me at Christmas.
Never smelt any car (whether old or new) that smells like my Passat does at the moment.

If I was shown to a s/h car that had been treated with perfume, I'd have only one question.
What smell are they trying to hide?
|
Yuk, I saw a New Car freshener in a shop once, and smelled it out of curiosity, it didn't smell like new cars, it was a strange chemical smell, like the inside of a plastic factory?
I would rather they spent their time making the interior clean by shampooing the carpets, upholstery, headlining etc... and using a surface cleaner on hard plastics. No discernable odour at all.

Don't know about that but I had an A2 loan car yesterday that was about 2 months old and smelt like a herd of reindeer had slept in it.

Well, you never know at this time of year. Maybe the sleigh needed a service?
