Morning Mondeo Problem - The Ring
I have a 1999 Mondeo which in the winter mornings has started to hold back when l put my foot down. This happens especially in the 2nd, 3rd and fourth gears, the car lacks power until the car passes the 2000rpm point. Any solutions or points to start looking at that might solve the problem?

Thanks in advance

Start with the obvious, plugs and leads. Use Genuine Ford parts only.

Petrol or diesel?
Morning Mondeo Problem - The Ring
Its a 1.8 Zetec petrol. Ive done as suggested, changed the spark plugs and leads and still the same problem? I now hear a short cranky noise everytime i shift gears, as soon as i change gear and put my foot down, a small vibrating noise comes from the engine bay and thats on every gear, any ideas? Thats another problem on top of the car lacking power while the car is still cold in the mornings, no problem when its heated up?

You need to get some more serious diagnostics done now. I dont just mean checking the fault codes. As the problem is evident only when cold the coolant temp sensor could be at fault. The noise could be a slack cam belt, more pronounced when cold. Other possibilities include egr strategy, O2 sensor heating etc etc. By the way what oil are you running in it and when was it last changed??

Where would be the best place to get a diagnostics printout from? Ford? To give a few more details, the cars only done 45k and ive serviced since ive had it every 5-8k, im the only owner on this car. Semi-synthetic oil and was last changed and serviced on 40k. Ive just realised today that my anti-freeze levels are dropping, i topped it up last week as it had gone down past the min point but now its to that point again (possible leak), could this be possibly causing problems?
