I'm in love with my friend's Citroen XM Mk-II 3.0 V6 24V Auto. It's for sale and can be mine for 7000 Euro. I'm especially overwhelmed with its ride comfort that even a facelifted C5 simply cannot deliver.
It's got 78k on the clock, full history, manufactured in 1998 (Mk-II). Heated leather (even in the back!), climate control, electric (!) armrest plus comfort, comfort and comfort written all over it.
OK, its V6 is quite thirsty, but very quiet and refined - no vibrations whatsoever. Reliability ? Uhhmm... Who cares, I want a magic carpet ride and I want it now :)

I agree. Fabulous old barges, although they are an acquired taste. 7k euro seems like way too much money, however. You don't say where you are - maybe they hold their value better in other markets - but in the UK it wouldn't be worth (at a guess) much more than £2k?

Agree with Dilbert. 7000 Euros - what's that? About £5 Grand? (very roughly)
No-one in their right minds would pay that over here - not with 78k on but other markets, as Dilbert says, may be different.
Are you in Poland or somewhere like that from what I remember?

I remebember getting in an XM taxi in Spain about 10 years ago, it had 400,000km on the clock, 250k miles, only about 4 years old at the time.

Right, I'm in Poland. Here you just cannot buy a XM with history, because... Citroen didn't offered it here. I'm buying it from my German friend.
Generally, in Germany XMs (and other Citroens) seem to hold their value very well, I have no idea why, to be honest. I know you guys in the UK can buy the same car for peanuts and I would certainly look for mine there, but obviously I need something with the driving wheel on the right side - from my perspective, naturally, I know yours is different ;)
We've got loads of independent garages here that offer plenty of parts & support for XMs, which is after all, a very underrated car, I guess.

My neighbour has a K reg XM. It was running fine when he parked it on his drive about a year ago and began driving his new Nissan. There's no visible rust and, accoridng to him, it was a lovely car to drive the last time he drove it.

Personally I think it would be great acquisition if you already had one and you wanted loads of spares for it. I'm not sure what would be involved in getting an XM running again after it had been untouched for some considerable time.

Try looking on www.autoscout24.de or www.mobile.de to get an indication of the prices in Germany. The only ones for that sort of money seem to be Turbodiesel and Estate versions. I understand there were less than 1000 XMs sold in Germany per year during some years of its life, so I guess rarity keeps them worth something.

does seem very high, i bought a 97 xantia earlier this year for £1000 with 60,000 miles on the clock.
