Mitsubishi Outlander - smoke
I can't seem to find that many road tests of this vehicle. HJ are you planning on doing a road test at some point? Anyone with any experience of one?
Mitsubishi Outlander - THe Growler
Been around about a year where I live. Check the looks - we call it the Mitsubishi "Outlandish" LOL.

I don't know, i quite like the look of them. But it takes all sorts, there are even people out there who like the looks of the original Fiat Multipa (argh).
Its just that there are very few reviews out there, (4 car don't have one, as don't Topgear, and nor does this site too.) The ones that are out there seem to say that it doesn't handle like a EVO VIII on which the chassis is based, which to me seems a bit of stating the blatently obvious, and thus not hugely revealing about the vehicle.
None seem to touch particulary on the things i hold important. E.G.how is the car when it comes to living with it as an owner for a few years?
Or is the resale going to be as catastrophic as the Galant (We had a brand new 1994 M auto for 9 years, which we paid close to 20000 for at the time, it was amazingly reliable, a good looking car and aside from VVV light steering (which mum loved incidentally) was a pleasure to drive, but was worth tuppence when it came to resale even though it looked almost as good as the day we bought it, and had a FSH with all bills and reciepts).
The reason i am looking is that there seem to be some stonking deals on them (car giant etc), they have great spec, they are automatic (mum's requirement) and they are 4x4.

After 9 years, most cars ain't worth very much. That's why mapmaker buys them ...

Smoke: Re Catastrophic resale.
I had a similar experience with a Mazda 626. Very good car, but at ten years old, value was almost nothing, even though it was still in excellent condition. When I left UK, it needed a small amount of work for an MOT, but it wasn't worth it as the going price was less than the cost. So off I drove it to the breaker, and got ten quid for it. Very frustrating. It seems that the cars which are designed to last 10 years and die at that point (no names) put the kiss of death on everything of the same age.

two words - VERY ugly!

I seem to sense a theme that some people find it ugly.
I don't find it any uglier than a Honda CR-V (wheels look too small for wheel arches, with the overhangs looking too big), The X trail ( which looks too tall for its width aesthetically), the Santa Fe (bug eyed), the Freelander (Front end looks so unbalanced e.g. like a smaller cars lights and grill thats just been hiked up a bit and the body coloured sump guard trim feature just looks way too pretentious) and the Forester, which looks just a tad too plain. In fact the only SUV esque cross over that i actually think is reasonable design wise is the RAV-4, but its a bit too small.
The big 4x4s look a bit more balanced in their design, but are just utterly unfit for purposes.

i think the only similar car that is uglier is the Hyundai Santa Fe which looks verey plasticy
