wonder if it works with the congestion charge too
Perhaps not. One of ken's dreaded 4WDs !

I dont know the legalities to do with Ambulance..I would think Emergency Service`s would be given priority on motorway/any other road. If not their must be a serious problem to sort out.I really cannot imagine what would happen if someone died due to some jobsworth preventing vehicle from going through Tolls..

According to yesterday's TV local news, the ambulance was not entitled to free passage because it was not a "clearly marked ambulance" and was not on an emergency call. Also, no request had been received from Ambulance Control to give passage to the ambulance.
The car (not conventional ambulance) in the pictures did not have the word "ambulance" on the bodywork, but did have a blue light on the roof with "ambulance" written on the blue plastic.
On balance, I think our jobsworth was right in accordance with current M6 Toll regulations.
What seemed really dodgy to me, was that while the ambulance driver was arguing his case, he received an emergency call instruction from control, so he turned his blue lights on and could then pass free of charge. Pull the other one!
