My three points have expired. Will I get a clean paper licence from DVLA, do I have to apply for one, or what?

Double check your expiry dates. Don't forget its four years before they come off. Three years is just the totting up. Next May for me although I think I'll stick with my paper licence for the moment.

Why bother changing? I still have my licence showing my driving history in all it's glory...they are expired anyway, so what difference does it make?

I've got 3 points on my old style license which have expired and i'm not keen on paying the DVLA for the privelege of having them removed.

i have recently moved so if i send in my old license for it to be updated to my new address (which is free) would the expired points be transfered to the new photo license or as they are no longer valid would they be removed?

Just a thought!

Blue Haddock, if you change your address you can have your points removed and get a spangley new plastic licence for free.

It's worth paying the £4 to the post office to check and send it for you though, as I thought I'd done the whole form but had missed bits out, and also you don't have to get someone (doctor, lawyer, teacher etc) to sign your photo or send your passport away to the perils of the postal service as they check it all at the counter and give it back to you.

(By the way, am I heading for trouble if my V5 for Polo is still registered at my parents' address but the address on my licence is where I'm living now? It was never meant to be permanent but seems to have ended up that way.)

car should be registered where it spends most of its time, not necessarily where u spend most of the time, same for insurance

licence i think only needs to ba an address through which u can be contacted, unless its changed recently

quite usual to have car and licence showing different addresses, u'd be surprized how many people have multiple houses/flats, one car is scotland another in london or similar
